Pnigomantis medioconstricta sind Mantiden (Gottesanbeterinnen) aus eigener österreichischer Zucht, die nicht so häufig angeboten werden!

Pnigomantis, auch Doppelschildmantis genannt wegen des einzigartigen, in der Mitte "zusammengequetschten" Pronotums, stammen aus dem Regenwald in Indonesien. Sie sind im präadulten Stadium nicht scheu, jedoch sind adulte Weibchen für ihre Aggressivität bekannt. Haben sie Beute einmal geschnappt, lassen sie nicht mehr los – das gilt auch für Finger oder andere menschliche Körperteile. Entsprechend vorsichtig müssen sie daher behandelt werden!

Für die Haltung empfiehlt sich ein Terrarium ab 30x30x30 oder 20x20x40, da die Tiere recht groß werden und eine gute Durchlüftung wichtig ist (Doppellüftung, oben und unten). Es sollte daher nicht zu viel gesprüht werden, da es sonst zu Staunässe und Stickluft kommt, die den Tieren schadet. Es kann auch ein Ventilator benutzt werden, um für bessere Durchlüftung zu sorgen.
